It's not unusual to see deer grazing in this community of 1,200 people. A large variety of waterfowl can be observed and photographed at the 128-acre Salmon River Wildlife Reserve. You can launch your boat, or hire a local guide for some excellent salmon fishing. Good steelhead fishing can be had at the nearby Salmon, White, Adam and Eve rivers. Several of the local forest companies have provided spots for camping and picnicking in the surrounding area. You can also go canoeing at Rooney Lake, or whale-watching on Johnstone Strait.
